- Young people are invited to Booker T. Washington Monument at
10:00 a.m.
as the park presents "To Be a Leader." This program is for young
people 6 -
12 years old. Free registration is required, so please call a
Park Ranger at (540) 721-2094.
July 14
- Town Council meets at 7:00 pm in Rocky Mount
Municipal Building.
July 15
- Franklin County Board of Supervisors meet at
1:30 pm in the Supervisors meeting room of Courthouse
July 19 - Booker T. Washington National Monument will offer a
dynamic interpretive program from
11:00
a.m. to
3:00p.m. that includes costumed interpretation of
life on a mid-19th century small slave holding tobacco plantation.
Join park rangers and volunteers and explore the park's structures,
gardens and grounds to learn more about the culture of subsistence and
cash crop farming that Booker T. Washington experienced during his
childhood in slavery on the Burroughs Plantation. Ranger-led
introductory tours will begin at the visitors center at 11:00 a.m. and
2:00p.m.

Band featuring Blue Highway in the auditorium of Franklin County High
School at 7:00pm.Sponsors for this event to date are Martinsville
Dupont Credit Union and Comfort Inn.
August 12 - Kick off of Leadership 2008/2009, a project
of the Chamber to develop community and civic leaders of the
future. Anyone interested in being involved in this program,
